Ryan’s Farewell Address
Hello all,
Hope you had a good week and that you have exciting plans for the weekend. I presume those plans don’t include following along as I ramble, so I’ll try to be succinct. This will be my final post on Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba.com as on Tuesday I’ll begin working at The Blade once again. I couldn’t be more excited to once again get paid to watch sports, although these last eight months of unemployment were greatly refreshing. Being a journalist is what I’ve wanted to do since I was a freshman in high school (I blame my parents for not talking some sense into me) and I can’t wait to immerse myself in the industry once again. The culture we work in is stressful, unhealthy, and not conducive to chasing around talent at the bars. But it is fun. It absolutely is fun.
It is my understanding that I will be covering University of Michigan football along with some high school sports. Considering how bad the Wolverines were a year ago, my job should be filled with drama and uncertainty, which is absolutely what I crave. Frankly, I don’t know a great deal about Michigan football because covering BGSU games last year usually precluded me from watching season one of the Rich Rod season unfold. So if you have some story ideas or simply some miscellaneous information, shoot me an e-mail at: rautullo@gmail.com
I hope to head over to Perry Stadium on Sept. 3 for the season-opener against Troy. I’m looking forward to sitting in the bleachers and not apologizing for getting excited when something positive happens for the Falcons. This could be an exciting season for the orange and brown for two primary reasons — the offense is capable of piling up points and the MAC East is crappy. There isn’t one MAC East team that would finish better than fourth in the West. At least that’s the way it looks right now.
Thanks for following this project of ours, and I only wish we could have gone on longer.
Be safe,
Ryan
I just wanted to add a personal “Thank You” to Ryan for doing this with me. It’s been a lot of fun! It’s renewed my interest in making ay-ziggy-zoomba.com better than it was before. I’m not going to stop posting articles and information on the home page… I may not get the same journalistic respect or credentials Ryan got, but I’ve got some ideas and look forward to bringing them to you all.
Ryan will be following my second favorite team now, so I guess that gives me a reason to start looking at toledoblade.com once again!! They definitely made the right move hiring him back… SO much talent in that young man! I’m glad he graced us with a little of it here these past couple of weeks.
Good luck, Ryan! Go Blue!! and GO BG!!
-Grant
It’s a shame you have to cover the Wolverines, and I enjoyed reading your content on here. Best of luck from a fellow Fremonter that joined the Falcon ranks.

Nice job Ryan. Thanks for supporting Falcon Nation.
Congrats Ryan…has Dan Dakich been notified?
Thanks Ryan! and good luck.
Thank you and good luck. Hope 2 see you at the game 9/3 – Bob
Thanks Ryan for all the insights and video. Great job. Congrats on getting your job back.
Ryan,
Congrats man!! THAT is so good to hear. Will see you at the Troy game…come over to the tailgate area so we can set you up with a brat and Captain and Coke!
Congratulations, Ryan! I have really enjoyed reading your stuff here, and you’ll do a great job for the Blade once again, I am sure. And as always, thank you Grant for making this all possible. I’m sad that Ryan has the audacity to accept a paying job when we liked having him here, but I’m excited to see what you come up with for the front page!
Ryan – Excellent job here. Maybe the type of reporting you did here is the future of “print” journalism. I found it refreshing and informative.
Now we need a (couple) BGSU journalism major(s) to step-up and fill the void Ryan will leave.
Congrats Ryan! Really enjoyed all your blogs and videos, best of luck back at the Blade!
