Thanks to Cliff Marks from Blue Turf Radio (www.blueturfradio.com) for taking the time to do the Q & A on Boise State. Check out Cliff’s blog! Good stuff!!

Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba.com: Falcon Fans know all about your big offensive attack, names like Kellen Moore, Titus Young, Austin Pettis and your 2-headed backfield… and the fact that you’re scoring almost 40 points a game. Give us a couple things to watch for BESIDES what we know?

Cliff Marks: The Bench. What I’ve noticed about the Broncos in the last couple of years is their system of recruiting. I guess when you gain national attention (i.e. the Fiesta Bowl) the quality of recruits. An example is the depth at running back DJ Harper is out but expect great things from Doug Martin and we might see some more of Jarvis Hodge.

AZZ.COM: You guys are coming into Doyt L. Perry Stadium ranked #8 in the nation. That’s the highest-ranking opponent we’ve ever faced in The Doyt. Is the #8 ranking legit in your opinion? Why or why not?

CM: Tough Question are we better than USC, Miami, Oklahoma or Virginia Tech is really what you are asking right? This is college football and on any given day Boise State is better than anyone. How’s that for side stepping the answer. The honest truth is I really don’t know. I have seen the good and the bad over past years and I think this team can stand up to anyone. But I also think the fact we got held out of the BCS last year has something to do with the recent poll success… well that and great play.

AZZ.COM: Your team is very young, this bodes well for the next couple of years, to be sure. Is it a cause for concern at all this season?

CM: No! Injuries. If we stay healthy I think BCS is the end result. No, not because I’m a homer. Because the only obstacle that stands in our way is us. I think Coach Pete will keep the boys ready and prepared. The great thing is we get everyone’s A game which makes us better each week.

AZZ.COM: Have you heard of Freddie Barnes? He had 15 catches against Troy and 17 last week against Marshall… he’s leading the nation with 42 catches. Kyle Wilson seems like a pretty tough defender in your secondary…Do you think Boise will make any adjustments for Freddie, or just play him like they would any other receiver they faced?

CM: The defense has been a pleasant surprise and a disappointment all in the same sentence with the Bronco Nation. We can shut down Oregon’s offense and them get stunned by the invisible Ryan Mathews he was a freight train for Fresno State. I have read about FB, but I do think your point is valid 42 catches is impressive. I’m positive there will be subtle adjustments.

AZZ.COM: It’s “BOY-see” not “BOY-zee” right? ;-)

CM: “BOY – C”… State! If you are at the game… You’ll hear the chant.

AZZ.COM: Will Boise’s front 7 be able to get pressure on BG quarterback Tyler Sheehan, or will he have a lot of time to sit back in the pocket and make an easy throw?

CM: Let’s see, Again depending on which defense shows up! Yes, I would think Tyler will be forced out of the pocket quite often. But it is my understanding that he is comfortable scrambling and can even run a bit. That will be a good thing.

AZZ.COM: I think it’s safe to say most mid-major fans feel a little envious regarding the success your program has had over the past decade… what’s it been like being on this ride?

CM: A lot of fun. I’ve traveled to many away games and I must say the fans in the Pac10 and the WAC have been hospitable. I haven’t made it out to MAC territory yet. I can say it’s great time to say you’re a Bronco!

AZZ.COM: Your prediction for a final score?

CM: Boise 42 BGSU 28
