Ay-ziggy-zoomba.com fund-raising appeal
Well, the hosting bill came this month, and there’s nothing in the PayPal account… SO… here’s my appeal:
It costs $30/month for the hosting of this site, plus any bandwidth fees that go beyond the allotment. Then there’s also another $20/month for the chat-room software and several other miscellaneous fees/costs associated with the site.
I’d like to ASK you to make a donation via PayPal in support of this site. I don’t think I’ve ever asked before… I think others have asked on my behalf, but I’ve never come out and directly asked for the help. In the past, it’s always been me, one very generous “benefactor” and a few others who have chipped in with wonderful, but smaller amounts on occasion. Please consider joining the ranks of monetary supporters of this site.
You’ve all expressed how important the message boards are to you, now’s your chance to show it! I plan to bring them back in early May… there will be some changes, but they will be for the betterment of the site, the discussions and the support of BGSU athletics.
My PayPal account is webmaster@ay-ziggy-zoomba.com (of course) and you can just click on this link to make your donation. Thanks!

How much would it help if everyone took the time to click on a google ad or two every time they visited the site?
VERY little.
they’re worth only pennies a click. Hardly worth the effort. Good thought though! If you happen to see an ad that genuinely interests you though, I’d encourage you to click on it! They do a pretty good job of targeting the ads appropriately, IMO.
Done.
Happy to help Grant. Appreciate all you do to keep this site going.
Looking forward to your changes and getting the message boards back up!
DONE! I’ll send a little more after the balance in the paypal account gets updated next week.
I’m in….
Grant,
You got it. I wish you would ask for this kind of thing more often. We get so used to just typing the address in and having the site appear, that I’m sure many people don’t think of all that goes into keeping it going on a regular basis. I know I’m guilty of just that. My contribution isn’t much, but I hope others will add on. Can’t wait to have the boards back up, and thank you!
I definitely couldn’t put forth a lot, but I have been enjoying a slightly better financial picture lately than I had for the last two years+, so I am happy to kick in a little, even if it is very small. I really appreciate all you do here, Grant. It is great to have a place for BG fans to congregate, especially since a number of us otherwise have very little contact with any other Falcons.
Grant,
I’m travelling. I’ll put a check in the mail to you when I get home tomorrow.
Happy to help, I wish you’d have asked sooner and thanks for giving us an idea of the financial committment. We old-farts have no idea about this new-fangled web-stuff and how much it costs.
So far, 16 people have stepped up and showed their monetary support! Thanks!
Grant,
While I am financially unable to contribute at this time, I hope to in the future. I do have a question for you though. Have you ever considered selling advertising on the site? There are many local establishments unique to Bowling Green that I’m sure would be able to find some room in their advertising budgets. There’s what, 20 bars, 2 tattoo shops, and 30 pizza places? Even at $10 a piece that’d be enough to keep the site up for awhile? I’m sure it wouldn’t be too difficult to present the advertisement on the site in a classy way.
Just sent mine….. don’t want to be outclassed by BO. And certainly want to be in the same company as Falcon Fanatic…. besides if she found out I didn’t do my share, she might kick my azz next time I see her. LOL.
Grant, you’ve put together a good thing here and I have no problem supporting it. It’s a great way to get in touch with other Falcon fans and, of course, get a little Tol*do bashing in every now and again – which is always good. GO FALCONS!
I vaugely remember Kermit Stroh asking if you needed money and you said you did not. Geeze, all ya had to do is ask. I know what a struggle it can be to meet the bills, and I think the host is hosing you, but just for the fact that I’d love to see the message boards come back up, especially since the Falcon men have signed FOUR PLAYERS, here’s $50 to tide you over.

We’re in. Hey the Top off the beam ceremony was really cool at The Stroh this afternoon. Coach Van de Walle looked into the “arena” and she got tears in her eyes. She spotted where the nets will be and is pumped. Coach Roos was so excited she gave my dad THE biggest hug. Coach Orr was tall!!! And kind as always and all smiles.
They have poured and set all the forms for the upper permanent seats and you could see the rows and really get the idea of it. The contractor said it would go fast now, getting the siding, windows, and roof finished and it all closed up. They showed us a beam that had bolts that equaled a TON to hold it. The railings on the North side upper back of seats are going to be all glass at the top so you can walk all around the arena and look down and watch. The 50-50 sellers were very happy about that. So were grandma’s whose little people might need to wiggle and run!
That’s my report. It was like a whirlwind with 100 conversations going on at once and all of them very excited.
And $14,035,000.00 and change has been raised! THANKS everyone!
I was in BG on Friday…. I REALLY like how the Stroh is sited proud to the street. I am really looking forward to seeing this building complete. I was in fear that it was going to be sited like a freaking Wal-mart with a sea of asphalt between it and the street.
The Wolfe Center – I am not a fan of shoe boxes shoved in the ground as a parti.
I’m going to be in BG on Thursday afternoon…can’t wait to tget the latest “up close” view of the building…it looks awesome on the webcam
I was at the Victory Inn down the street from the Stroh Center. Wow. It looks pretty exciting. The steps are filled in and you can see where the glass is going to be on the East side of the structure.
It was fun donating a Grant to Grant

while on the way back home to cleveland from my wife’s baby shower in cridersville, we stopped in bg so that 1)she (and our baby to be) could have pollyeyes; 2)we could get our little peanut her first bgsu garb and little plush falcon; and 3) to check out the Stroh. what an impressive building. can’t wait to make the new house roar!
Baby shower in Cridersville from Cleveland? You are close to my neighborhood there!
yes…the wife grew up in shawnee. her folks now live in cridersville.
G:
Sorry it’s been so long since I hit that button.

Grant,
Today is pay day…I’ll get a check in the mail to ya over the weekend. God bless you for running this site my man. ROLL ALONG>
Is the chat feature really even needed? Seems like a steep price to pay for something that mostly goes unused.
I posed that very question last year when the subscription came due and people were pretty adamant that they used it on game days and thought it was a valuable addition to the site. When the site was hacked and I brought things back online, the chat was the last to come back, and people were constantly bugging me about “When will it be back?!?!”
Is it possible to take down the chat between the end of March and July? I can’t really see anyone utilizing it during those “down months,” in which our ‘broadcast’ sports are off. If possible, it’s an easy way to save $80, and it makes my minuscule contribution seem that much bigger!
That’s a good point, BO.
Grant, I can think of numerous times during basketball games that I have signed into the chat and there has been one person or nobody there. Quite honestly I wish people would be there because I live outside of BG coverage but usually there is nothing going on there. It’s a nice feature that 98% of the users never take advantage of IMO.
Some of the most fun I’ve had on the site was in the chat room…like the night Saint Urban left for Utah…you’d be suprised how any different ways you can say “Utah…WTF?”.
