I registered the domain name Ay-ziggy-zoomba.com on March 31, 2001… almost 11 years ago now. Not a month later, on April 27, 2001, the number 1 member, BGHoward, passed away. That really became the driving force behind my developing, growing and pushing forward with this website. For those of you who don’t know, BGHoward was my dad, and the reason for my love of BGSU as an institution and as a sports fan.
I went to the exhibition game against Tiffin on Saturday – correction: I went to the first half of the exhibition game before darling daughter decided it was time to go. If you haven’t been there, the Stroh is going to be an AMAZING venue for basketball games!
Over the past 3 years (since the birth of Andersyn) I’ve realized that BGSU sports really aren’t that important to me. And, in fact, I really just don’t care that much about most of them. How did this happen? I went from being a “fanatic” to “fair weather” in almost no time flat…

I’m 40 years old (I turn 41 on 3/6/2011… but I’m clinging). My entire life there has been this place where I could go and feel at home. I walk in and inhale the smells, hear the sounds, feel the “pulse” and all the REAL issues in life fade away for a couple of hours. That’s important in this world, having a place where you can escape for a while…

We’ve seen some amazing games, and we’ve seen some REALLY AWFUL games, but we always come back. We celebrate together, we sulk together, and, most importantly, we make wise-ass remarks together.
‘m still a bit gobsmacked by the events of the past 48 hours… but I hope to have an in-depth post about this donation in the next couple of days. Right now though, I just want to say thanks… thanks for doing exactly what I would do for the exact same reasons I’d have done it, Mr. Frack.
I’ve been going to BGSU basketball games in Anderson Arena for a LONG TIME… I’ve gotten to see some pretty great players play in Anderson, but I was always frustrated that I never got to see some of the GREATEST of all time. Thanks to the BGSU Center for Archival Collections, I’ve gotten that chance…
