I registered the domain name Ay-ziggy-zoomba.com on March 31, 2001… almost 11 years ago now. Not a month later, on April 27, 2001, the number 1 member, BGHoward, passed away. That really became the driving force behind my developing, growing and pushing forward with this website. For those of you who don’t know, BGHoward was my dad, and the reason for my love of BGSU as an institution and as a sports fan.
The BGSU compliance office has created the BGSU Compliance Booster Presentation to help educate boosters such as you and I on NCAA compliance issues. Should you read it? Yes you should! (It’s short and an easy read, so I know you all can handle it
)
I’m 40 years old (I turn 41 on 3/6/2011… but I’m clinging). My entire life there has been this place where I could go and feel at home. I walk in and inhale the smells, hear the sounds, feel the “pulse” and all the REAL issues in life fade away for a couple of hours. That’s important in this world, having a place where you can escape for a while…
I’ve been going to BGSU basketball games in Anderson Arena for a LONG TIME… I’ve gotten to see some pretty great players play in Anderson, but I was always frustrated that I never got to see some of the GREATEST of all time. Thanks to the BGSU Center for Archival Collections, I’ve gotten that chance…
Time will treat you kindly
Years from now you’ll be
Ever dearer in our hearts,
Our University.
A man who is a clean sportsman will be a clean type of individual in any walk of life…
Ay-ziggy-zoomba.com member, Ryan Wilhelm sent me a message on Facebook several months ago telling me I should talk to his dad, Roy Wilhelm, who was an athlete at BGSU in the early 60′s. Ryan said he might have some interesting stories to share as we head into this last year of Anderson Arena, and the 100th year of BGSU.
I’ve already written a lot about Anderson Arena in a previous post regarding my daughter, Andersyn’s, name… but there’s so much more to be said as we get closer and closer to “Closing the doors on the House that Roars.”
Man, I wish I could be there for this event… but I’m in Columbus for a seminar. Someone please go and I’ll let you guest-blog about it on here!! This is TOMORROW at Anderson Arena.
If you have never visited the archives, I thought this would be a fun way to show some of what’s in there and maybe pique your interest.
