Toledo's Halftime Show

Postby VDub26Falcon » Fri Nov 23, 2007 5:08 pm

Ok, maybe a Bandy can help me out on this, but I thought it was a marching band faupaux to go from a musical (such as Phantom) to something that isn't from a musical (such as Thriller). Anyone?

No rule per se, but that does lend itself to have a wonderful theme (scary halftime show). That may have been left over from a halloween show.

How were they received?

They were received like any band performing Phantom at a high school OMEA competition.

"Oh great, ANOTHER Phantom show?!" :?

considering it was toledo..i don't think ANYTHING they played would have been received well...
especially being followed by new frontiers and it's awesomeness. ;)

It was very high school-esque. Decent show I guess, but the music was obviously not very challenging and the drill wasn't complicated or impressive. I thought it was weird that they went from Phantom to Thriller too, but I guess it fit the "theme".

And the Thriller dance they did? Paled in comparison to the 2000 FMB version ;-)

If you listen to Toledo's show on EspnU it sounds alot worse than it did from behind them where we (FMB) were standing

Directional mics on the field will do that. You only hear a couple of players sticking out really loudly while the rest of the band sounds pretty muffled, so I assume that was the problem. It had the same effect on the FMB too, but since the UT band naturally plays that way anyway, it just exaggerated it alot more. :-D

Don't even get me started on the camera work at halftime :P If Toledo's dance would have been something I actually wanted to see, I would have been really annoyed. How about a close up of the snare line the whole time the band is doing their dance?

I was a bit upset they showed all of their sorry excuse for a show and only part of New Frontiers.....someone should have told EspnU that they shouldn't tape the Toledo High School band

Didn't Dr. Hayward tell us the school got ESPN to do a special blirb on New Frontiers at Half Time? it doesn't sound much like we got it.

The slUT band didn't clap or anything after we finished.

They were also the ones who led the crowd in th BGSU -cks chant during pregame from what I've been told.

Them playing during our pregamereminded me of how classless some bands can be, I know we;ve made that same mistake before, I just hope we never do it again.

Oh, and one more thing, WE KNOW THREE NOTES
Yeah right girl!

speaking of acting classless..... just let what they did be in the past Niz. Show you're better than them by not sinking to their level.

So they werent taught to clap after a performance or maybe they were awestruck.

So they were leading the crowd in a cheer that is a quasi-school tradition. the band is the biggest spirit crew(not that you can prove they lead it and didnt just join in, mind you)

and the three notes is just like first and ten used to be, just a quick rendition of the fight song to encourage school spirit.
