Icy U.S. 223 site of triple fatality

WHITEFORD — A triple-fatal, head-on traffic collision occurred at 5:36 a.m. on U.S. 223 near Tabbert Road, according to a press release by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. The crash resulted in the deaths of three people, including two Blissfield residents.
Sarah G. Prochaska-Carpenter, a 30-year-old Blissfield resident and Toledo area physician, was driving a 2003 Ford F250 pickup eastbound on U.S. 223, which was still icy from Tuesday and Wednesday’s snowstorm.
52-year-old Alan J. Gies, Temperance, was driving a Jeep pickup westbound on U.S. 223, police said. In the passenger seat was Tyler R. Baldwin, age 19, of Blissfield.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Services Division is investigating the accident with the help of Deputy William Owens of the C.A.R.s Division. Authorities ask that anyone with information about the crash call (734)240-7565.
