Here's another thing that gets under my skin. When asked in the postgame, Orr went on again about our defense not being good enough and how he's a defensive-kind-of-guy, etc. But here's the thing - WE ONLY ALLOWED 54 POINTS!!! That's nearly 10 ppg fewer than we averaged allowed per game for the season! When in the world is he going to acknowledge and focus that you also need to be able to score to be successful as well? And that is something we have consistently struggled to do during his tenure. I understand defense is important - without a doubt - but so is being able to score and having guys able to do so. If I didn't know the outcome of the game but someone told me CMU finished with 54 points in the Stroh Center, I 100% would have bet the house that BG won. Our defense isn't why we lost last night, it was our offense - or lack thereof! That is why we lost.
The defense WAS bad. We only allowed 54 points because we held the ball for 34 1/2 seconds every damn possession. Take out Ziegler's 1-12 and we let the rest of that bad team shoot 19-33 (about 57%). That and McBroom got literally whatever he wanted in the 2nd half.
The offense was bad because they used 3 guys to guard just Calhoun and Thomas, didn't guard Dee Brown at all, and he was incapable of carrying the offense despite literally NOT BEING GUARDED. Coach Orr won't call out a senior in his last game, as he shouldn't, so he had every right to call out the defense.
